Man Dies From Injuries Received Tuesday at Plant
BRICK WALL FALLS CRUSING FORMAN
Accident Occurs Near Blast Furnace Shortly After Noon.
Jim Searls, a foreman, was fatally injured while working on a slag pit near the blast furnace at the steel plant Tuesday afternoon. The accident occurred about 1:45 o'clock yesterday afternoon and the man died shortly after having been taken to a local hospital.
Mr. Searls is said to have been making his first trip into the slag pit. A brick wall fell while Mr. Searls was in the pit. His body was badly crushed by the falling bricks. He was taken to the hospital immediately after the accident.
Mr. Searls died shortly after reaching the hospital. The body was taken to the home of his father-in-law, R. B. Clay on Wilkinson avenue, Alabama City. Mr. Searls was 24 years old and is survived by his wife and one child. The funeral will be conducted tomorrow and burial will be at Forrest Cemetery.

Mr. Searls is said to have been making his first trip into the slag pit. A brick wall fell while Mr. Searls was in the pit. His body was badly crushed by the falling bricks. He was taken to the hospital immediately after the accident.
