• God Father: Nick Severa. Nick was a family friend and next door neighbor. He was godfather for Confirmation

• God Mother: Connie Cappociti (sp?). Louis and Connie were God parents for Christening

• God Father: Louis Cappociti(sp?). Louis and Connie were John's Godparents for christening

• Education: Mont Pleasant High School, 1955, Mont Pleasant High School Gym. Class of 375 students. John thinks he was 372.
After graduation, had a party at his home in the Bellevue section of Schenectady.

• Retirement: from New York State as a Corrections Officer, Dec 1998, Summit Shock Facility, Department of Corrections. Upon retirement, his friends at the Summit Shock Facility gave him an axe that everyone had signed. They took inmates into the woods to clear brush, thus the axe.

• Military Service: Air Force, 1959-1961. Went into Basic Training at Lackland AF base in San Antonio, Texas. After graduting, joined the AF National Guard. After a years, he was activated for 11 months and served in Schenectady, NY for the 109th Military Air Transport.

• Employment: New York State Department of Commerce, 1959. After college. During military service did not have to work here, but went back afterwards to work here.

• Education: Bryant College, 1956-1957, Providence, Rhode Island. Business College. Only went for one year, but was expelled due to "excessive partying".

• Education: Albany Business College, 1958-1959, Albany, New York. Graduated with Associates degree in Business Administration. Tended bar part time at Salvino's, a local college hangout. 10 cents a beer!!

• Degree: Associates in Business Administration, 1959, Albany Business School.

• Employment: New York State Capital Police Officer, 1964-1981, Albany, New York. Commuted from Jefferson, NY which was an hour away

• Employment: New York State Corrections Officer, 1981-1998, Summit Shock Facility, Summit, New York. Switched from Capital Police to Corrections due to a strike and subsequent restructuring. Was given the choice to swith and pick of facility he wanted to work at. Summit was five minutes from his hime in Jefferson, NY

• Health: mostly good. He was Diagnosed with diabetes in the mid to late 1980's and had to give himself an insulin shot.

• Social Service: Jefferson, New York School Board, 1975 - 1990 (?), Jefferson, New York. Elected to three five year terms. All during the time his children attended school in the district.

• Social Organizations: Masonic Lodge Member, 1975 -, Jefferson, New York. Member of New York State Working Lodge 554, Jefferson, NY. His father-in-law got him interested in joining and even paid his initiation fees and first year of dues.

He was Master of the Lodge from 1976 - 1979. After which(1980), he was elected to the Order of the Eastern Star as Deputy Grand Lecturer of the Otsego-Schoharie district.


Further, his son-in-law also joined under his guidance in 2006.

• Property: 272 North Harpersfield Road, 1967 -, Jefferson, New York. Property had 7/8 acre of land and was across the street from the Town of Jefferson cemetary.
John finish the house from a Woodcraft shell. They came and built the frame and John finished the entire interior.

John married Barbara Elizabeth Ayers, daughter of Seymour Landon Ayers Jr. and Elizabeth Miller, on Dec 3, 1966 in Jefferson Methodist Chuch Jefferson, New York. (Barbara Elizabeth Ayers was born on Aug 24, 1939 in Methodist Episcopal Hospital Brooklyn, New York and was christened in New Utrecht Dutch Reform Church, Brooklyn, NY.)

• Marriage Misc: Maid of Honor: Wendy Webber. Wendy was Barb's sister-in-law (brother Kenneth's wife).
